Joan Himme RichmondvilleJoan Himme, 69, of Richmondville died peacefully on Sunday, April 27th at home surrounded by her family. Joan was born May 29th, 1944 in Huntington, NY, a daughter of Neal and Martha (Eustace) Edwards. In 1968 she moved from Long Island to Richmondville where she raised her five children and worked at interknitting for many years. Joan married Edgar Himme on August 27th, 1961, cherishing 32 years of marriage before his passing on October 23rd, 1993. She enjoyed baking and was known for her outstanding recipes by many. Joanie was a member of the Red Hat Society, as well as a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and Richmondville Fire Department. Survivors include her children, William (Lisa) Himme of Cobleskill, Deborah (Charles) Blair of Vermont, Robert Himme of Cobleskill, James (Tracy) Himme of Richmondville, and Cheryl Himme of Hagaman. She is also survived by beloved grandchildren, Sarah and Danielle Himme, Brian and Katie Blair, Robert, Melissa and Michael Himme, David Himme; and two great-grandchildren. She was a sibling to Neal (Darlene) Edwards of Tennessee and Donna (Ronnie) Vogler of Long Island. Joan also leaves behind Aunt Evelyn Eustace of Long Island; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with dear friend, Pat Palmer of Richmondville. Joanie was predeceased by grandson, Jacob Himme. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 1st at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 108 Chapel Street, Cobleskill. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 2nd at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 265 Main Street, Richmondville with burial following at Richmondville Cemetery.
