Mary M. Galka Saratoga SpringsMary M. Galka, 92, former longtime resident of Palma Ave., Rotterdam, died Tuesday, May 20th at Wesley Health Care. Born in Mechanicville, Sept. 29th, 1921, daughter of the late Michael and Angeline Scelsi, Mary was a cook at Union College, Schenectady for 18 years before retiring. Previously, she worked for Martinec's White Eagle of Scotia. Mary enjoyed cooking, especially for her family and friends, and she loved life and family. Her husband of 50 years, Stanley Galka, died in 2009. Survivors include four children, Agnes (the late Ted) Lavigne of Clifton Park, William (Sonya) DeMicco of Latham, Janis (Larry) Strattner of Eureka, CA and Linda (Gerald) Dagostino of Clifton Park; along with seven grand and six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Frank, Rocco, Joseph and Nicholas Scelsi. Friends are invited to a burial service Thursday, May 22nd at 2 p.m. at Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
