Dwane D. Hoyt MechanicvilleDwane D. Hoyt, 67, of Farm to Market Road, died Saturday evening at the Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, with his loving family at his side. Born in Delhi, NY, he was the son of Edith Alton DelPrete of Mechanicville and the late Donald Hoyt. Dwane was also predeceased by his step-father, Angelo DelPrete and brothers, Danny A. and Ronnie L. Hoyt. A proud combat veteran, Dwane served in Vietnam with the Army's 173rd Airborne Division and the Green Beret Special Forces. He was a union bricklayer for sometime and later a self-employed general contractor, starting JDH & Sons General Contracting with his wife. Dwane was a lifetime member of the American Legion, as well as the VFW, where he served as a past commander with Post 6328. He was also a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge, the Eagle's and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping in Lake George and loved his six Chihuahuas. Most of all, Dwane loved his family, teaching his two boys the ins and outs of being a man, lessons they will never forget. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jacalyn McBride Hoyt; his sons, Danny R. (Shelby Napples) and Dwane D. Hoyt of Mechanicville; and his sister, Maxine Black of Oneonta. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4th at 11:45 a.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville, followed by burial with full military honors at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
