Anthony L. Sgambelluri Schenectady Anthony L. Sgambelluri, 80, of Schenectady, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Albany on June 27, 1933, he was the son of the late Michael and Pauline (nee: Leone) Sgambelluri. He was a life long area resident and attended local schools. During the Korean War, Anthony proudly served in the United States Army as a radio mechanic, 61st Tank Battalion. Anthony was a partner of the Paramont Lounge on Albany St. in Schenectady with his brothers, Michael and Arthur, and with his sister, Tess. He was a member of the Schenectady YMCA and the 300 Golf League at Eagle Crest Golf Course. He enjoyed hunting with his brother-in-law, Fred Pedone, fishing with his brother, Michael, water skiing, archery, snow skiing and snowmobiling. In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by a son, Michael Baccari; brothers, Joseph (Anna) and Arthur Sgambelluri; and a sister, Rosemary (George) VanAlstyne. Anthony is survived by his beloved wife, Grace (nee: LaBadia) Sgambelluri of Schenectady; his son, Anthony (Cheryl) Baccari of Rotterdam; his grandchildren, Craig Baccari of Glenville, James (Ashley) Baccari of Rotterdam and Nichole Baccari of Rotterdam; his great-grandchildren, Michael Baccari of Florida, Samantha Baccari of Scotia, Kendyll Baccari of Rotterdam and Al-exander Iadicicco of Rotterdam; his siblings, Theresa Bonanni of Albany, Frank (Ann) Sgambelluri of Albany and Michael (Yvonne) Sgambelluri of Loudonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Mary Pedone of Broadalbin, Shirley Hilton of Amsterdam, Jean Sgambelluri of Schenectady; one of his closest friends, Dom Apruzzese of Rotterdam; several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:15 a.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St., Schenectady. Interment will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
