Sophia Ann Denning SchenectadySophia Ann Denning, 91, entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Born on January 25, 1923 in Amsterdam, NY, Sophia was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Willette. Mrs. Denning was predeceased by her husband, Francis Denning; son, Francis Denning Jr. and great-grandson, Daniel Keenan. She is survived by her devoted children, Maureen Morse, Terence Denning, and Colleen Denning (Jim). Grandmother to Anthony Denning (Lori), Christine Vogel (Tom), Sean Denning (Bonnie), Kelley Charland (Brian), Shannon Keenan (Tim), Meghann Pickett, Christin Harrison (Eric) and Cole Denning. GG to great-grandchildren, Katherine, Bethany, Carly, Gracie, Ryan, Sydney, Emily, Alexandra, Jayden, and Matthew. G3 to great great-granddaughter, Ryleigh. Beloved sister of Shirley Willette, Phil Willette (Carol), and deceased siblings, Teresa, Tom and Chuck Willette. Also survived by many treasured cousins, nieces and nephews. Best friend to Edith Hildenbrandt. Sophia was a resident of Schenectady for many years. She retired from her job as a telephone operator with Verizon to travel extensively and spend time with her family. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Sophia was a great believer in the power of prayer and prayed the St. Jude novena daily. She loved dancing, shopping, and listening to her Irish music. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Please watch for notification of date and location.
