Catherine Naomi Hulett Leighton CastletonCatherine Naomi Hulett Leighton, 92, of Castleton, NY, formerly of Schenectady, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Riverside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Castleton. Born in Schenectady, Catherine was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Murphy) Hulett. Catherine was a member of the Disabled American Veterans #88. A writer of children's books, Catherine loved fishing and enjoyed birds. She was predeceased by her husband, John P. Leighton; sister, Eleanor Hulett Scholes; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Leighton. Catherine is survived by sons, David F. and John D. Leighton; daughter-in-law, Nancy F. Rose; and former daughter-in-law, Karen Leighton; her sister, Priscilla Hulett Wohlfeld; grandchildren, Janice L. (Allen) Craft, Michele A. Leighton, David Leighton (Tonya); step grandson, Mark Bogausch; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Heather MacIsaac, Katrina Tarbox, Eryk Craft, Connor and Jack Leighton; step great-grandchildren, Cody and Brock Bogausch; and great-great-grandson, Steven MacIsaac. She is also survived by her niece, Debra Hebert (Claude); nephews, Douglas, Gregory (Joann) and Garry (Debbie) Scholes; as well as numerous other family and friends. A visitation will be held Friday evening, July 11, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
