Robert R. Chest Sr. Rotterdam Robert Bob R. Chest Sr., 66, passed away at home on July 9, 2014, after a long illness. He was born in Amsterdam, NY, a son of the late William and Marion Chest. Bob was raised and educated in Canajoharie, NY. For 32 years, he was employed as a carpenter for GE of Schenectady. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1975. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a race car driver at the Fonda Speedway (No. 54). He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Lynn of Rotterdam; his grandchildren, Samantha (Jake) Chest and John Chest of Rotterdam; his brothers, Richard Dickie Chest of Palatine Bridge, NY and John (Edna) Chest of Schenectady; nephews, Wesley (Tina) Chest , Richard Chest, Bill (Carmen) Suits; his nieces, Tonya (Todd) Koenig, Kim Whitman; and great-nephew, Ethan Chest; his aunts, Theresa Snyder and Gladys Guy; and several cousins. Bob was predeceased by his brother, William. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, Inc., 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment with full military honors will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 12 noon at the Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the local SPCA.
