Donald F. Jewett Duanesburg Donald F. Jewett, 95, of Duanesburg, died peacefully at home, early Sunday morning, July 20, 2014, and entered into his eternal home with his Lord and Savior and departed loved ones. Born August 22, 1918, Donald was the son of the late Earl and Ada (Fryer) Jewett. He was a graduate of Draper High School and Cobleskill College. Donald lived his life centered around his love for Jesus, his family and their farm. He was a man truly filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. He served his family and community in many capacities. Donald was the fourth generation owner of his beloved farm and the founder of Jewett's Poultry Farm, Inc. in Duanesburg. He worked the farm for 75 years. Donald was a lifetime member of Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He took on leadership roles including director of the Schoharie and Schenectady Mutual Insurance Association, director of the Eastern Mutual Insurance Company, chairman of the Building Committee at Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church, president of the Farm Bureau, 4-H leader, church consistory member, and member of the Board of Regents at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Donald was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Gregg) Jewett, whom he married July 22, 1945. He was also predeceased by his son, Donald E. Jewett; and grandchild, Donald A. Jewett. Donald leaves behind his daughter, Linda Goring of Duanesburg and her family, Jennifer (Andy), Jon (Liz) and Laura (David); daughter, Sandra Merrihew (Ralph) of Schenectady and their family, Jeff (Sheila) and Serena (Jim); daughter-in-law, Sharon Jewett of Rotterdam and her family, Melissa, Eric (Jessica) and Matt (Ashley); brother, Robert Jewett of Ohio; sister, Jean Queitsch (Max) of Tennessee; along with 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services, in celebration of Donald's life, will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3662 Giffords Church Rd., Duanesburg, NY 12056. Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY 12306. Interment in Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam.
