Margaret Sims-Eaton SchenectadyMargaret Sims-Eaton (Jean), 90 years old, left this world peacefully, in her home, after a long roller coaster of a ride with dementia. It was not a fun ride, but filled with much love. She adored and was adored by her four children, who cared for her until the end. Born Margaret Regina Murphy in Albany to John and Margaret Murphy, she grew up thinking her name was Jean until she graduated from high school when she was shocked to find the name Margaret on her diploma. Jean then graduated from Mildred Elley Secretarial School. Along with being a single parent, Jean held positions in various local businesses including General Electric, AT&T, NYS and as asst. administrator for many years at Glendale Home. Throughout her life Jean has continually been a very large part of each of her children's lives and her idea of a good time was being with her kids. Her unspoken motto was, cook a lot and they will come and they did she was a great cook of a lot. Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren knew they could always turn to Gram for just about anything, but you never left her house hungry. Jean will be greatly missed by her children, William (Robin), Margaret, Kathleen and Christine (Tom) Dittus; grandchildren, Thomas (Kathy), Tamara, and Theresa Marcucci, William and Jason (Kelley) Sims, Jessica Sims and Cruise Dittus; great-grandchildren, Marina, Michael, Emmalena and Nicolo Marcucci, and Darien and Baileigh Sims, who will all remember her as loving each one unconditionally. She will also be remembered fondly by her children's and grandchildren's many friends who called her Ma or Gram and always found safe haven in her home. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Dolores Michalski and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother, John (Alayne) Murphy; sister, Mildred (Philip) Gara and brother-in-law, Henry Michalski. Through the many trials and hard knocks bringing up four kids alone, she always had a sense of fun and adventure. She was the epitome of a Loving Mom.
