Irene H. Tracz Obituary
Irene H. Tracz Amsterdam Mrs. Irene H. Tracz, 89, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2014. Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Stella (Ziencina) Janikowski. Irene attended St. Fildelis Grade School and Tuley High School in Chicago. She went on to attend Wells Business School also in Chicago. Irene married Max Tracz on September 21, 1946 in Chicago and moved to Amsterdam. She was the first traffic manager of WCSS, scheduling ads and programs. Irene also worked at Bigelow Sanford as a clerk/typist, and at Ward Products and Amsterdam Printing and Litho Co. in the WATS department. Irene decided to go into Real Estate and began her career with Blake Gallery of Homes, later she became co-owner of Action Realty, and eventually branched out on her own and started Irene Tracz Realty. In her later years, she worked for Century 21 locally. While in real estate she won numerous awards including Realtor of the Year. Mrs. Tracz had the opportunity to travel to Poland, Venezuela and Alaska. After her retirement , she enjoyed being a member of the Ft. Johnson and the Tribes Hill Seniors. She enjoyed meeting people and going on the senior trips. Irene was an outgoing person and enjoyed being around others. She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Linda) Tracz of Amsterdam, NY and Timothy (Judith) Tracz of Batavia, NY; a grandson, Andrew Tracz; a sister, Patricia Gardner of Des Plaines, IL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Max; a son, Richard; a brother, Raymond; and a sister, Valeria. At the time of her death, Irene lived at River Ridge Living Center. The family wishes to thank all of her caregivers there. Also the deepest heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who cared for her during her last days while at Maria Hall at St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 8:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John St., Amsterdam, with Fr. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Shrine of North American Martyrs (Auriesville Shrine), 136 Shrine Rd., Fultonville, NY 12072.
