Janet L. Arros, 75, of Sunnyside Road, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010, at home. Janet was born August 13, 1933 in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Elthelma and Emmet Mahoney. She was a graduate of the former Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady and attended the draftsman's apprentice program at Union College. She married Edward F. Arros March 30, 1957. She was employed as a draftsman by the General Electric Company for 17 years before assisting her husband with his business, Village Auto Service, in Scotia. Janet was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge #0ES271 and enjoyed time spent with family and friends, knitting and boating on Lake Champlain. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward; her children, Denise (Charles) Albertario of Kent Cliffs, NY, and Kelly (Anthony) Colello of Brewster, NY and grandson, Edward Albertario. She is also survived by her brother, Emmett (Virginia) Mahoney of Middleburgh, NY and several nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her sister, Shirley DeMasi. Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday. Family and friends will be received at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY on Wednesday, January 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at the ParkView Cemetery, Schenectady. Edward, Denise and Kelly would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to their good friends, Pahl and Florence Gunn and Cliff Blair for their years of care and assistance, and Janet's nurse, Marcia, of Hospice.
