Mildred E. Borst, 80, of Fairview Drive, Cobleskill, died Monday, December 20th at her home after a long illness with her loving family by her side. Millie was born August 11, 1930 in Cobleskill, a daughter of Elmer F. and Myrtle (Nethaway) Rockwell. She attended the former Cobleskill High School and later, began her long career with the former VanDeusen's Dress Shop in Cobleskill, where she worked for 33 years as a seamstress until its closing in 1980. Millie then worked as a home health aide for the Schoharie County Health Department from 1984 to 1994 and finally, doing private duty until her illness. She was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge #580 in Central Bridge and later, Schenevus. She was a member of the Young at Heart in Cobleskill, the Zion Lutheran Church in Seward. Millie enjoyed bowling in the Tuesday afternoon ladies league and the Wednesday night league. She was married to Floyd D. Borst on December 29, 1968 until his death on August 21, 1984. Survivors include her siblings, Katherine Sanford of Central Bridge, Gwendolyn Franco of Guilderland, Elinor Cox of Troy, Elmer (Shelma) Rockwell of Cobleskill, Beatrice (Clinton) Spaulding of Cobleskill, Frank Rockwell of Edgewater, FL, Joan (Henry) Bray of Central Bridge and Donna (Henry) Marvin of Cutler, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, William Rockwell. A memorial service and visitation period will be held in May of 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 114 Mesick Ave., Seward at a time to be announced. Burial will be at the Slate Hill Cemetery, Town of Sharon. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Millie to Catskill Area Hospice, 795 E. Main Street, Suite #11, Cobleskill, NY 12043 or to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092 or to the Zion Lutheran Church, 114 Mesick Ave., Cobleskill, NY 12043.
