Douglas E. Creasy, 88, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Ellis Hospital. Mr. Creasy was born in Schenectady to the late Emmett Judson Creasy and Rita Thomas Creasy and was a lifelong Schenectady resident. He was a graduate of the former Mont Pleasant High School and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he served in the Italian and North African Theatre of Operations, and was awarded the Purple Heart twice. He worked as a printer at the Daily Gazette for 15 years and the Fort Orange Press for 25 years. Mr. Creasy was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Kathryn M. Shaffer Creasy; a son, John Douglas Creasy; a brother, Judson A. Creasy. He is survived by five children, Barbara A. Jacobson, Kathleen M. Murphy of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Bruce A. Creasy and Judson F. Creasy, both of Schenectady, and Maureen Rose Creasy of Lake George, NY. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kelly M. Nyberg, Bruce M. Jacobson, Heather Creasy, Aislyn Creasy Mastif, Laura Murphy, Scott Murphy, Michael J. Kindred and John D. Kindred, and 11 great-grandchildren. There will be no funeral service or calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302.
