Rose DeRossi DaBiere, 97, of Wells, Maine, formerly of Truax Road, Amsterdam passed away August 30, 2011 at home. Born in Amsterdam on October 1, 1913, she was the daughter of Clodomiro and Luigia Lorelli DeRossi. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1931. She received her BS degree from Alfred University in 1936 and a master's degree from Oneonta State Teachers College. Mrs. DaBiere taught school for 28 years retiring from the Amsterdam City School District in 1976. She was a member of the Amsterdam Teacher's Association, the NYS Retired Teacher's Association, the National Retired Teacher's Association, and a member of the 70 year old Psi Chi Phi Club. She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and was married to Michael J. DaBiere on May 11, 1947. He passed away on January 12, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Clement (Deborah) DaBiere of Amsterdam and Michael (Sharon) DaBiere of York, Maine; two daughters, Rose E. Rzesos of Broadalbin and Mary Lou (Charles) Colvin of Wells, Maine; one sister, Jean (Patrick) Eliseo of Schenectady; one stepsister, Carmella Kazlauskas of Schenectady; four grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the DeStefano Funeral Home, Rte 5S, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
