Samuel Stringfellow Obituary

Samuel 'Sammy' K. Stringfellow RotterdamSamuel Sammy K. Stringfellow, 82, of Rotterdam, passed away at his daughter's New Jersey home on June 18th, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Manhattan, NY, Sammy moved to Schenectady, NY at a much later age, where he met the love of his life, the late Patricia Stringfellow, of Rotterdam. Sammy loved to cook, and with his knowledge of cooking he earned a degree in culinary arts from Schenectady County Community College in 1996. With this degree, Sammy worked as a cook at Union College, the Van Dyck, and the Albany public school system where he retired in 2011. Sammy also dedicated his time volunteering at the Damien Center helping of others in need. His family remembers him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Samuel is survived by his daughter, Julia Stringfellow-Hudson and her husband, William of Keansburg, NJ; his grandsons, Michael Stringfellow of Pittsfield, MA and Clifton Stringfellow of Rotterdam; two great-grandsons, Michael Jr. and Cameron Stringfellow of Pittsfield; stepdaughter, Denise (Pisano) and her husband, Ralph Donato of Rotterdam; stepson, Michael Pisano and his wife, Gloria of Rotterdam; and step-granddaughter, Brittany Pisano of Glenville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. Services for Samuel will be held on Monday, June 25th, at Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel Ave., West Keansburg, NJ 07734. Viewing, 6 to 8 p.m. and service from 8 to 9 p.m.
