Karen M. Carignan PattersonvilleKaren M. Carignan, 69, of Pattersonville, passed away peacefully at her home on November 21, 2012, her loving family was by her side. The daughter of the late James and Mary Horvath Youngs, she was born on September 4, 1943 in Schenectady, NY. Karen was raised in Schenectady and graduated from Schalmont High School. She married Mark E. Carignan on November 29, 1964, they shared a beautiful union of marriage for almost 50 years. Karen was proud of being a machinist at Dave Hunts Automotive in Schenectady for some time, she owned and operated Partners Diner in the Town of Florida where she met lots of wonderful people. Karen's home was the house of family, she was most proud of her family and along with her own children she helped raise many others too. Karen adored her grandchildren, she was a bright person who shed her light on all those around her. Her home was the gathering place for many family gatherings and celebrations. Karen lived life to the fullest with never any regrets. Her loving family includes her husband, Mark Carignan; son, James Carignan of Schenectady; daughters, Katherine M. (Jeff) Wojcik of Pattersonville, Lisa (Mike) Burdick of Schenectady, and Nicole M. (Michael) Maddock of Pattersonville; beloved grandchildren, Danny, Aaron, Samantha, Jillian, Mary, and Tara. Her sister, Sue D. (Frank) Gazzillo of Schenectady also survive. A celebration of life will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam. Arrangements are in the care of Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072.
