Frank S. Pozniakas MechanicvilleFrank S. Pozniakas, 80, of Washington Ave., died Fri- day evening, Feb. 15th, at St. Mary's Hospi- tal, Troy, after a brief illness. Born in Riv- erside, Town of Stillwater (Frog Island), March 31, 1932, he was son of the late William and Eva Swelko Pozni- akas, and was a 1949 graduate of Mechanicville High School. Frank enlisted in the US Army during the Korean War and later enlisted in the US Air Force, serving as a materials handler, being discharged in 1958. Frank was proud to be from a family that served their country, with his father serving in WWI, late brothers served in WWII and both Frank and his brother, John, serving during the Korean War. He worked as a painter with W.W. Patenaude and Sons for 22 years and previously had been a Maytag appliance re- pairman in Long Island, and also worked at the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. in Mechanicville. A past Commander and life member of Riverside's Henry F. Lefco Post 1644, American Legion, Frank had helped build the current club rooms along with his family and neighbors. An avid fisherman, Frank en- joyed the company of family and friends. Frank was predeceased by brothers, Stephen, Wm Vince, Edward, John and Jo- seph Pozniakas and sisters, Mary Thompson and Amelia Bagnoli. Survivors include his sister, Annie Pozniakas of Troy along with many nieces and neph- ews, and his caregiver and best friends, Patty and Tony Taran- to of Mechanicville, and their children, Priscilla, Kyle and Alyssa. A Burial Service with mili- tary honors will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 12:45 p.m. at the Saratoga National Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
