Gladys Henness RotterdamGladys Henness, 88, of Rotterdam, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady. Born and raised in Medusa, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Maude Crosby Ferry. Over 45 years ago Gladys moved to the area, and was employed with the Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany until her retirement in 1988. Ms. Henness was a former resident of 1369 Santa Fe St. for 17 years and a former resident of Heritage Home for Women in Schenectady where she always enjoyed her time. Gladys was also member of Carmen United Methodist Church, Schenectady. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, former member of the Moose Lodge, and a lifetime member of VFW #1895, all in Schenectady. Gladys was also a lifetime member of Annie Schaffer Senior Citizen Center. Ms. Henness was predeceased by her former husband, the late Emory Henness, in 2009. In addition to her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her son, Emory Henness Jr. and brothers, Christopher Ferry, Carl Ferry, and Clayton Ferry. Survivors include her daughter, Leona (Mike Zaikis) Hunt of Rotterdam; grandchildren, Joseph Nolan Jr. and Stacy (James) Mauceri; great-grandchildren, Joseph Nolan III, Andrew Nolan, Luis Gracesqui Jr., Samantha Mauceri, and Katelyn Nolan; great great-granddaughters, Michelena Nolan and Willow Nolan; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
