Bennie L. Anderson Jr. SchenectadyBennie Lee Anderson Jr., 65, of Schenectady, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 27, 1948, he was the son of the late Bennie L. and Shirley A. Davis Anderson. During the Vietnam War, Bennie served with the US Marine Corps from 1968 to 1973. Mr. Anderson was a devoted member of Schenectady Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was employed with Golub Corp. for a number of years until his retirement. Bennie enjoyed photography and bowling. He always had a great sense of humor, even in his last days. Mr. Anderson is survived by his loving wife, Marguerite, whom he married on August 26, 1995. In addition to his parents, Bennie is predeceased by his stepson, Robert O'Rourke; and his brother, Christopher Alan Anderson. Additional survivors include brothers, Stephen Anderson of Las Vegas, NV and Martin (Mary Little Gal) Anderson of Schenectady, NY; elder cousins, Doradeen Jackson, Audrey Thompson, and Freddie Anderson; niece, Tiffany Anderson; several other cousins and extended family. Special thanks to Bennie's cousins, Debra Wilkins, Tenicia Parish, and Lynette Jackson; as well as the Oncology & Radiology Floor at the VA Hospital in Albany for all the care and support given this past year. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 3rd at 1 p.m. at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
