Richard Roginski Obituary

Richard N. (Pat) Roginski AmsterdamRichard N. (Pat) Roginski, 89, of Willow Court, formally of St. John Street, Amsterdam, passed away at his home on February 14, 2014. Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 6, 1924, he was the son of the late Alexander and Balbina (Bialczak) Roginski. Richard was a 1942 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and Albany Business College. He served as a sergeant in the US Army during WWII from 1943 to 1945 and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal in 1945. Recently, he was proud to be part of the Honor Flight Tour to Washington DC. On November 9, 1952, he was united in marriage to Rose Rossetti Roginski at Mt. Carmel Church in Amsterdam. Richard was the controller of Fiber Glass Industries until his retirement in March 1989. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, also a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors, Polish American Veterans, Southside Veterans and for years, enjoyed bowling in the Polish League and golfing with his numerous friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and mostly enjoyed attending his children and family members numerous youth and high school sporting events for many years. Over the past 40 years he enjoyed watching and following the Siena basketball team. Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his three loving sons, Richard A. (Cindy) Roginski of Clifton Park, Alexander R. (Deborah) Roginski of Amsterdam and Thomas J. (Maria) Roginski of Chevy Chase, MD; one loving daughter, Barbara A. (James) Partyka of Hagaman; eight cherished grandchildren, Kimberly M. (Michael) Ogborn, Richard J. (Derek) Roginski, Ryan T. Rockmore, Daniel A. and Michael O. Roginski and Michael J., Kristy A. and Linda R. Partyka; cherished great-granddaughter, Molly G. Ogborn. Richard is also survived by his sisters, Mary Stanwick and Henrietta Roginski of Amsterdam; and in-laws, Carol and Alfred Iannotti and Mary Ellen Rossetti; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Roginski; and a sister, Regina Roginska. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY with Father Pat Iannotti as celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial donations in Richard's name may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, St. Mary's Institute, Community Hospice of Amsterdam or to a charity of one's choice. We were sadded to hear of Richard's passing. We have so many memories of the good family times we had during visits. Richard was always so supportive of family especially in times of need.
