Louis A. Bavaro Jr. RotterdamLouis A. Bavaro Jr., 81, passed away with his family by his side at home on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Born in Schenectady on April 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Louis and Rose Bavaro. Lou was a Navy veteran, having served on the USS Missouri during the Korean War. He retired after over 30 plus years as an engineer in the power plant at SUNY Albany. Lou's favorite hobby was collecting new and vintage audio/video electronics. Up until his death he was still enjoying his many reel to reel recorders. Predeceased by siblings, Michael, Paul and Constance, and nephew, Thomas Mauger. Lou is survived by his beloved daughter, Carla and son-in-law, Sean, whom he thought of as his son; and cherished granddaughters, Kendahl, Riannyn and Chloe, all of Rotterdam. He is also survived by his loving nieces, Suzanne Mauger of Cohoes and Roxanne Mauger Pafundi of Valrico, FL and nephew, Theodore Mauger of Largo, FL; and greatnieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, March 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenectady. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Lou's name to the Community Hospice of Schenectady County, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
