Robert E. Wandrey Scotia Robert E. Wandrey, age 90, left this life surrounded by his daughters to begin his new life in Christ on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Bud was a loving and devoted father and husband. He showed his family how to live, how to laugh, how to love and how to die with dignity, grace, faith and courage. We are thankful that God gave us the privilege to call him Daddy, GB, Grandpa and friend. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Robert and Alice Toht Wandrey. Bud was a graduate of Lane Technical High School in Chicago before working for a family-run printing company. He was drafted into the US Army during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater and Okinawa where he was awarded the Bronze Star. After the war he graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Bud was employed by G.E. for many years before retiring. His career led him to various engineering and secret military projects including the Stealth Bomber. Bud loved to tinker and was a jack of all trades that could fix anything. He was a gardener, nature lover and an avid reader. He was a great cook, especially breakfast. He was also a photographer, a collector of cameras and a wood carving artist. Beloved husband of 44 years to the late Harriet Holmes Wandrey; loving father of Linda Wandrey of Scotia, Martha Smith and her husband, David of Fayetteville, GA and Susan Wandrey Svec and her fiance, Robert Cotton Jr. of Scotia; cherished grandfather of Allison Holloway (Johnathan), Jill Simmons (Matt), Robert Svec, Sarah Svec (Brandon) and Rebecca Svec (Anthony); great-grandfather of Ethan and Lily Holloway and Cade Simmons. Bud is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews from the Chicago area. The family will receive visitors Friday, March 28, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the White Funeral Home, 264 N.
