1924 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Alice Stoll Saratoga Springs Alice Marie Fero Stoll, 90 years old, recently residing at the Wesley Health Care Center, died peacefully in her sleep on October 3, 2014 in Saratoga Springs, New York. Alice was born on September 28, 1924 to Ray and Bertha Fero of Beaver Dams, New York. She graduated from Northside High School in Corning, New York in 1943. She married Harold Arthur Stoll on December 10, 1943, and the couple were separated for two years during World War II. After the war years, Alice and Harold lived in Painted Post, New York. Alice worked at Tillmans Drug Store, then at the First National Bank of Painted Post, which later became Central Trust. She was very involved with her community and with the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed a second residence on Keuka Lake, where she was fond of family gatherings. She is remembered as a good friend, a generous, warm and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sister and many nieces and nephews. One of six children, Alice was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, George Fero (Vonda), Lester Fero (Margery); and two sisters, Frances Moore (Herbert) and Wilma Johnson (Victor). She is survived by one sister, Shirley Stanton (John) of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Alice and her late husband, Harold, have three children, Jule Marie Smith (Daniel) of Ballston Spa, New York, Robert Stoll (Mary) of Richfield Springs, New York and Ronald Stoll (Barbara) of Monroe, New York. Alice had eight grandchildren, Geoffrey Smith (Sarah) of Broomfield, Colorado, Justin Smith (Meredith) of Granby, Massachusetts, Meredith Gould (Jeffrey) of Stillwater, New York, Richard Stoll of Hadley, New York, Jared Stoll of Burnt Hills, New York, Kathleen Stoll of Saratoga Springs, New York, Jeremiah Stoll (Jennifer) of Monroe, New York, Amber Quinlan of Bristol, Vermont; and nine great-grandchildren. There will be a private memorial celebration of her life for family members, and a spring interment of her ashes in Beaver Dams, New York. Memorial donations can be made in Alice's memory to the Wesley Foundation at 131 Lawrence Street in Saratoga Springs, New York 12866. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and aides on Victoria 2 and Springs 2 of Wesley Health Care Center for their gentle and loving care.
