Roland Post Obituary

Roland J. 'John' Post Fonda Roland J. John Post, age 93, of Fonda, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville. He was born on October 27, 1921 in the Town of Charleston, a son of the late Frederick and Blanche Vunk Post. Mr. Post worked as a laborer for over 31 years at General Electric in Schenectady until his retirement in 1983. He was a longtime member of the Fonda Reformed Church and was the custodian of the Church for over 26 years. John was also a member of the Glen Mohawk Senior Citizens. Mr. Post is survived by his wife, Margaret Nare Post, whom he married on August 28, 1954; two sons, James F. Post and his wife, Kimberly of Palatine Bridge and Daniel F. Post and his fiancee, Amber West of Gloversville; one daughter, Karen Mraz and her husband, Christopher of Mayfield; one brother, Glen Post; five sisters, Janet Becker, Doris Rose, Norma Spaulding, Beryl Millspaugh and Ora Mae Fancher; six grandchildren, Sarah Adkins, Michael Post, Kelly Boucher, Kristen Post, John Mraz and Kayla Dutcher; six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Sweeney Post; one son, Roland W. Post; infant daughter, Lynn Post and three brothers, Lyle Post, Charles Post and Bernard Post. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Fonda Reformed Church, 19-21 Broadway, Fonda. Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Stained Glass Window Fund at the Fonda Reformed Church, P.O. Box 536, 19-21 Broadway, Fonda, New York 12068 or to the Town of Mohawk Fire Department, 2553 State Highway 30A, Fonda, New York 12068. Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. Condolences to the family may be made online by visiting our website at www.agcolefuneralhome.com.
