ARTHUR W. SODERLUND

Arthur W. Soderlund of Ingleside Arthur W. Soderlund, 83, formerly of Rolling Meadows, passed away peacefully Dec. 4, 2012, at Hillcrest Retirement Village in Round Lake Beach. Arthur was born June 21, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Erick and Hilma (nee Rolfson) Soderlund. He served in the Army as a paratrooper and jumped during the 1951 Atom Bomb tests in Nevada. Art loved boating at the Abbey in Lake Geneva, in Marco Island, and here on the Chain O' Lakes. He joined his vivacious wife Pat in the Masque & Staff Theater troupe, enjoyed golf and a "perfect" Manhattan, and was an enthusiastic umpire for the Rolling Meadows Little League. Though he could be a quiet man, you could hear his hearty laugh as Santa Claus at Lutheran General Hospital, or most often as "Papa," enjoying his beloved grandchildren. Arthur is survived by his dear children, Lynn (Ann) Soderlund of Ingleside, Michael (Lorraine) Soderlund of Arlington Heights and Thomas (Mary) Soderlund of Georgia; and his cherished grandchildren, Thomas William, Kiersten Lynn, James Michael and Eric Benjamin Soderlund. He was preceded in death by Patricia, his loving and devoted wife of 60 years; his parents; and two siblings, Arnold and Ingvald Soderlund. Services and interment are private.
