Dr. Jack Dorner Noyes Dr. Jack Dorner Noyes of Barrington, IL and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2012, at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL. Jack was born in Frankfort, IN to William Everett Noyes and Eunice Dorner Noyes on Aug. 7, 1929. His family moved to Barrington in 1935, where Jack graduated from Barrington High School in 1948. He graduated from Purdue University in 1953. After two years service with the Army in Korea, he fulfilled his life's ambition of becoming a veterinarian, when he graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary medicine in 1959. He moved back to Barrington and eventually established the Noyes Animal Hospital, where he happily practiced for 40 years. Over the years, Jack was heavily involved in various community and professional organizations, including: Barrington Lions Club, Barrington School Board, where he was a six-year member and past president, and he was also an active member and past president of the Lake County, Chicago and Illinois State Veterinary Medical Associations the and American Heartworm Society. He received the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine Merit Award in 1978 and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Barrington High School. Jack was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and an active alumni, a 50-year member of Biltmore County Club, and a member of Lake Barrington Shores County Club, Pelican Marsh County Club in Naples, FL and the Barrington United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Erhardt Noyes; his son, William (Colleen) Noyes and daughter Mimi Noyes Burke; plus seven adored grandchildren, Amelia Noyes, Jack Noyes, Meghan Noyes, Victoria Noyes, Billy Burke, Tyler Burke and Jessica Burke; and his sisters, Nancy Noyes Fullerton and Jean Noyes. He was very proud of the fact that three generations of his family have graduated from Barrington High School. Jack enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and sharing these sports with his friends, children and grandchildren. His love and compassion for animals was never ending and will be remembered by his many clients. From the lions at Chicago zoos to felines in Barrington, he treated all creatures great and small. A memorial service will be held at Barrington United Methodist Church on Dec. 28, at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A memorial service will be held in Naples, FL on Jan. 8, at 4:30 p.m. at Pelican Marsh Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to District 220 Education Foundation, P.O. Box 262, Barrington, IL 60011.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Noyes' passing. I met him through family and even though he didn't know me well, he wrote me a recommendation for vet school that I just know helped me gain admission to U of I. He continued to support me throughout vet school, writing yet another letter of recommendation that helped me earned a scholarship through the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. This is what inspired my participation in the organization after graduation. He was a kind and talented person who I will never forget.

As a classmate all our years in Barrington schools, and fellow 1948 graduate, we are saddened to hear of Jack's passing. Although we didn't see him and Ginny other times, we fondly remember our class reunions and Jack being a kingpin of the activities and proudly driving his tractor and hay wagon at the parades. Last I heard, in October, he was asking about plans for our 65th in 2013 ! You'd never know he was the prominent citizen he was. Our sympathy to the family - you were so lucky to have him. My condolences to Ginny and family. Dr. Jack Noyes was my first boss after veterinary school, and was one of the best mentors anyone could have asked for. He had a great way about him in regards to his employees, his clients, and not least of all, his patients. I'll never forget the fact that he would pull me, a new graduate, into an exam room to get a second opinion on a patient he was seeing. Of course I would pull him into my exam room as well! One thing that stuck with me is when he said that he would never hire anyone at the top of their veterinary class, favoring good client communication skills over almost all other things. He will definitely be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family on the loss of such a great man. As a high school student, I rode my bike to work at Noyes Animal Hospital. Dr. Noyes has been a role model to me for many years and was one of the first people I called after graduating from veterinary school. It was obvious to anyone who knew him how much he loved being a veterinarian, husband, father, grandfather and friend. I will never forget him.

So so sorry to hear. Condolences to the entire Noyes clan. He was a great man- many of our animals were so kindly taken care of thru his office. Dad, (Bill Heyn) was a great fan of his golfing abilities. I was inspired by him to try to become a vet, starting in Animal Sciences at U of I, to be undone by the high grades needed to continue. But I am an animal lover still to this day. He will be missed.
