Ann Gregory Merrill Ann Gregory Merrill, 87, passed away in her sleep Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, during a brief stay at Brentwood North Skilled Nursing Center in Riverwoods where she was recovering from a recent hospitalization. She was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Chicago; raised in Northfield, Ill.; and had been a resident of Libertyville since 1953. She was a member of St. Lawrence Episcopal Church and served as treasurer of the parish's Episcopal Church Women's group for many years. She had previously been an active member of the Bryn Mawr College Club, the Chapel Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century; and many other organizations over the years. Ann graduated from North Shore Country Day School; then graduated with a bachelor's degree in physics from Bryn Mawr College; and received a master's degree in physics from Northwestern University. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Merrill Jr., in 2004; her parents, Stephen and Jean Gregory; and her sisters, Janet, Dorothy and Alice. Surviving her are her children, Joseph Merrill III, Janet Merrill and Mary Howard (Peter Anderson); her grandchildren, Jeffery Howard Jr., Gregory Howard, Rachael Anderson and Frank Staszak; and her great-granddaughter, Emilee Staczak. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m., at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, 125 W. Church, Libertyville, IL 60048.
