Anton "Tony" Winkler Anton "Tony" Winkler, 86, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away, Dec. 8, 2012, in Barrington, IL. He was born April 22, 1926, to Anton and Anna Winkler in Chicago. Tony proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II on the island of Palawan in the Philippines, earning several service medals. He was a member of the National Association of Machinist & Aerospace Workers, and later retired from American Motors in Kenosha, WI in 1988. He was an avid fisherman, storyteller, and fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, and the Green Bay Packers. Tony was a loving father to his children: Richard (Colette) Winkler, Linda (James) Prusinski and Nancy Mundschenk; caring grandfather to Christopher (Michelle) Winkler, Richard (Emily) Winkler, Amanda (Dr. Ruston) Howell, Peter Prusinski, Eric Prusinski, Melissa Mundschenk, Ryan Mundschenk, Patrick Mundschenk, Brandon Mundschenk and Troy Mundschenk; and playful great-grandfather to Piper, Benjamin, Max, Tyler and Liam Winkler, Catherine, Eleanor and William Howell. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Winkler; his parents, Anton and Anna; and his siblings, Frank Winkler, and Irma and Ann Igler. Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 noon at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.
