Bradford S. Allen of Barrington Visitation for Bradford S. Allen, 72, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Services and interment will be private. Born Jan. 16, 1934, in Troy, N.Y., he passed away suddenly, Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Mr. Allen was a graduate of Union College and Albany Law School of Union University. He became a patent attorney for Norwich Pharmaceutical Company, rose to the position of Assistant General Counsel of the parent company, Morton Thiokol, Inc., in Chicago and retired in 1987. In retirement he became an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association in Chicago and New York, and was president of Barrington Investment Strategies. He served on the board of trustees for the Barrington Area Library and Citizens for Conservation. An avid runner, he ran in 62 marathons and was a founding member of the Barrington Sunrunners. Survivors include his wife, Joyce B. Allen (nee Benane), whom he married in Norwich, N.Y.; children, Stuart C. (Tracy A. Schneider) Allen of Norwalk, Conn., Carter Allen of San Diego, Clifford Allen of Portland, Ore., and Meredith Allen of Los Angeles.; a brother, Philip Allen of Lathem, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Helene Allen of Penn Yan, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Emma (nee Ring) Allen and a brother, Frederick Allen Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Citizens for Conservation, 459 W.
