Burton F. Wendt of Barrington Burton F. Wendt, 91, was born Aug. 21, 1921, to Charles and Dorothy (nee Gilly) Wendt, and he passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Pepper Family Hospice in Barrington, surrounded by his loving family. Burton was a World War II veteran, and a Past Commander of American Legion Post 158. Burton is survived by his children, Thomas Wendt and Susan (Jess) Robertson; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle), Steven and Lindsey Wendt, Kristen (Steve) Schmaling and Amy Robertson; brother, Don (Therese) Wendt; and sister, Delores McCarthy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Grace (2008); brother, Carl Wendt; and his parents. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E. Main St., Barrington. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery will follow the service.
