Dr. Gerald F. Kramer of Elgin Dr. Gerald F. Kramer,75, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Gary, Ind., the son of Frank and Mary (nee Budgin) Kutchinsky. Gerald was an Army veteran, and a graduate of Marquette University and the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where he received his Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Kramer was employed by the Elgin Eye Clinic and then later owned and operated South Elgin Eye Care before retiring. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed basketball and spending time with his family. Dr. Kramer was a member of the South Elgin Lions Club and took part in making sure that the needy were able to receive eye care and glasses. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Carole (Roeske) Kramer; son, Michael (Tania) Kramer of San Diego, Calif.; and granddaughters, Amanda and Michelle Kramer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mary Alice. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with a funeral service at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S.
