Jackson Northrup Root Jackson Northrup Root, 77, of the Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia and formerly of Woodstock and Crystal Lake passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at Michealsen Health Care in Batavia. Jackson was born August 8, 1935 in Quincy, IL the son of Donald and Mercedes (nee Northrup) Root. He was united in marriage to Linnea Swanson August 18, 1962 in Chicago, IL. Jack was a graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign and was a member of the marching and concert bands playing bassoon and clarinet. He is survived by his wife Linnea; two sons Gregory (Tracy) Root of Franklin, TN and Timothy (Heather) Root of Lakemoor, IL; three grandchildren Kirsten, Tatum and Evan Root; and one sister Elizabeth (Ernie) Beckett of Twin Falls, Idaho. He is preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Batavia Covenant Church, 1314 Main Street, Batavia, IL. Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. A private burial took place.
