JAMES E. THOMPSON

James E. Thompson of Willow Lake Estates, Elgin James E. Thompson, 71, a former many-year resident of Wheeling, passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Pepper Family Hospice Home and Care Center in Barrington, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Irwin, PA on June 12, 1941. He was the son of the late Earl and Charlene (nee Dunham) Thompson. Jim was a former 30-year employee of Montgomery Wards. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran and a member of the Wheeling VFW Post #981. Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed golf and fishing. He was a devoted, loving and supportive "Poppy" and looked forward to the time he could spend with his grandchildren and teaching them to play " What's the name of this game*" Yes, family was very important to Jim. Survivors include his children, Julie (George) Gulo, Jonathan Thompson and Jackie (Bill) Forgue. Jim is also survived by his seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother: Earl "Snooks" (Carol) Thompson; his sister, Bonnie (Jerry) DiGiacobbe; many nieces, nephews and friends; and his much loved significant other, Mary Ciepley. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Harry. The Thompson family has decided to mourn their loss privately. There will be no public visitation or services. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.
