JOHN F. HARCHUT

John F. Harchut of Hawthorn Woods Visitation for John F. Harchut, 66, will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. John will lie in state Monday, March 4, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Father David Ryan will officiate. John was a resident of Hawthorn Woods since 1978, and served as the mayor in 1984 and on many committees throughout the village. He graduated from St. Patrick High School, Chicago in 1964 and graduated from Bradley University with 2 degrees; Construction Technology and Civil Engineering. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served as a B-52 mechanic. During his time in the military he received his pilot's license, and really enjoyed flying privately after serving. He also was a WWII history buff. He was retired from Commonwealth Edison and currently employed by CivilTech Engineering. His hobbies and interests included, model railroads, woodworking, and he was a yearly volunteer at the Carmel High School Street Scenes fundraiser since 1996. He liked to spend time at Smoky Lake, MI, and teaching his grandson to dip Oreo cookies into milk and to love Kemp's Moose Track's ice cream. John was born October 20, 1946 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, and he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, February 28, 2013 at the Pepper Family Hospice Home in Barrington. Survivors include his wife, Pamela M. Harchut (nee: D'Andrea); daughters, Andrea (James) Hanson and Dr. Joanna (Michael) Harchut Paddock; and his grandson, Austin Hanson. He is also survived by his canine buddies, Trousers and Jackson. John was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Helen (nee Tarala) Harchut.
