Cpl. John Thomas Olson

Cpl. John Thomas Olson of Elk Grove Village for eight years Funeral services for Cpl. John Thomas Olson, 21, formerly of Chicago, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Elk Grove Presbyterian Church, 600 E. Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove Village, with the Rev. Lynne E. Savidis officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village. Born April 22, 1983 in Chicago, he was killed in action in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq, Monday, Feb. 21, 2005. Prior to joining the service, he was a supervisor for UPS in Palatine. He was a 2001 graduate of Elk Grove High School and a former student at Harper College. As a youngster, he was involved in the Elk Grove Park District Baseball traveling team and Freshman High School Baseball. He was the beloved son of John R. and Diana J. (nee Curran); dear brother of Courtney D. Olson, a sophomore at Elk Grove High School; cherished grandson of Thomas and Jennie Curran (nee Parziale), and the late Richard and Dorothy (nee Nelson) Olson. He is also survived by his loving aunts, Barbara A. (Noel) Daly, Arlene S. (Richard) Dean, Denise Curran and Jeanne (Matthew) Kelly; his great-aunt, Alice Kratky; and many loving cousins and friends.
