Joseph Abbate Sr. of North Barrington A memorial Mass for Joseph Abbate Sr., 83, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Anne Church, corner of Franklin and Ela Streets, Barrington. Born Sept. 6, 1920, in Chicago, he passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Interment is private. Mr. Abbate was a 1938 graduate of Lane Tech High School and served in the Army as a supply sergeant during World War II. He was the former owner of Abbco, Inc. Cutting Tool Manufacturing. Joseph was a member of St. Anne Church. His special interests were antique cars, swimming and boating. He was the husband of Antoinette (nee Palmisano); father of Joseph Jr. (Ruth) Abbate and Denis (Suzanne) Abbate; grandfather of Annette (James) Baird, Joseph III, Daniel and Emily; and brother of Rose Levin and Adolph (Angie) Abbate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Dora (nee Greenman), and a granddaughter, Ruth Ann. Memorial visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass Saturday, at the church.
