SCHAUMBURG - Veteran Schaumburg firefighter
, Joseph Russell "Joe" Naples, 73, passed away on Sunday the 18th of May, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. Joe was born in Chicago but devoted 27 years of his life for the village of Schaumburg as a firefighter. From 1972 until his retirement in 1999 you would always see Joe in the front line, always devoted and willing to do anything necessary for the citizens of Schaumburg. His peers said he was "a tough little guy" who was well liked and respected. He also enjoyed cooking for the department and will be remembered for his home-made pasta. His retirement days were spent up at the chain of lakes in Antioch, and traveling with Norma his long time partner. Joe will be missed dearly and will be forever in our hearts. Joe is survived by Norma, his sister Alexis Naples, his children Michael Naples, Therese Ryan, Sharon Roman, and Maggie. His grandchildren Macrina, Michael, Kayla and Jack. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the funeral chapel.
