ROUND LAKE PARK - Linda Ann Kauffman, age 70, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013, at her home. She was born December 27, 1942 in Geneva, to John and Maxine (Pattee) Tschopp. On July 17, 1964, she married Lisle Kauffman at her home in Barrington. They made their home in the Round Lake area for the past 44 years. Following her husband's ordination as a minister, Linda played a pivotal supporting role as a pastor's wife for the past 44 years. She became an ordained deacon of the Presbyterian Church, and was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Round Lake. She was very involved with the Sunday School program there and served as it's treasurer. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir for 42 years. An avid reader, Linda served on the Round Lake Library Board for 35 years. She held several offices with the board, including past-president. She was a strong advocate encouraging children to read. Linda loved mysteries, and belonged to two reading clubs at the Round Lake Library. She also served her community as a Girl Scout leader for several years. Linda was a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains Auxiliary, where she also served as secretary. Linda loved to travel. Some of her favorite destinations were Hawaii, London, and Israel, where she and her husband renewed vows on their 34th wedding anniversary. She even got to see Petra, an ancient city in Jordan. Other favorite destinations included Liverpool, the home of The Beatles, as well as Graceland, Elvis Presley's home. A regular favorite place to dine while in Los Angeles was Spago of Beverly Hills, where she and Lisle enjoyed the honor of having Wolfgang Puck sit at their table on a few occasions. She was an Engelbert Humperdinck fan and attended many concerts including one at Lake Tahoe. She loved live theater in New York and met Angela Lansbury and David Hyde Pierce on Broadway. She was a fan of The Monkees, and traveled all over to see their concerts. Other enjoyments included a love of cross-stitching and knitting. She left many treasures to be adored. She was also a die-hard Sox fan. Linda enjoyed doing a daily Sudoku puzzle, and adored the companionship of her beloved cat, Waldo. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, the Rev. Lisle Kauffman; a son, Lisle Kauffman III, PhD and his wife Amy of Kansas City, Kansas; a brother, John (Barbara) Tschopp; a brother-in-law, Michael (Pat Gobel) Kauffman of Rutledge, TN; a nephew, Kent (Amy) Tschopp and niece, Carole (Andy) DeMarco, as well as other nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 510 N. Cedar Lake Road, Round Lake, IL 60073. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Calvary Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
