Raymond K. Krol of Antioch Raymond K. Krol, 82, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at his home. He was born June 2, 1930, in Chicago, the son of the late Peter and Sophie (nee Podraza) Krol. Ray proudly served in the U.S. Army and on Aug. 11, 1951, he married Florence Nowicki at St. Barbara Church, Chicago. They raised their children in Des Plaines, IL, later moved to North Carolina, and settled in Antioch over 10 years ago. Ray enjoyed fishing in his younger years, photography and playing the keyboard. He especially cherished time spent with his family- camping, boating, and teaching his children anything he could about life skills, finance, etc. Ray worked as a model maker, foreman, and in research and development for AB Dick and later Stewart Warner. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Florence; his children, Michael of Streamwood, IL, Patrick of Carpentersville, IL, Cindy (Russell) Orr of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Linda (David Cupal) Krol of Streamwood; and three grandchildren, Bob, Ashley and Katie. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Krol. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Route 83), Antioch, IL. Interment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. For information, 847-395-4000.
