ROBERT QUIG

Robert Quig Robert Quig, of Pickerel, WI, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Langlade Hospital, WI with his family at his side. He was 89 years old. He was born on May 22, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois a son of Henry and Mildred (Bushnell) Quig. He married Marion Radke on March 26, 1955 in Mundelein, Illinois. She survives. He served in the United States Army with the Corps of Engineers in the Philippines during WWII. He attended college on the GI bill and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in agriculture. Mr. Quig owned and operated a business, with his family, in Mundelein since 1947, which grew to include an apple orchard, country store, bakery, restaurant and greenhouse. He also served on the Countryside volunteer fire department and was one of the first paramedics in the Mundelein area. In 2005 he and his wife moved to Pickerel, WI where he was a member of the Pickerel-Pearson Lions Club. He has always loved to visit with people and it was easy for him to find something in common with anyone. Survivors including his wife are two sons Robert (Maryann) Quig, Mundelein, Alan (Amy) Quig, Pickerel; a daughter Pam (Tom) Berek, Reno, Nevada; four grandchildren Brandon, Jessica, Nathan Quig and Carson Berek; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lynn (Pat) Cloud. A celebration of his life was held on Thursday June 6, 2013 at Maplewood Golf Course clubhouse in Pickerel. Full Military rites followed the service. A second celebration of life will be held at Stonewall Orchard Golf Club located at 25675 W. Hwy 60 in Grayslake, IL on Sunday July 21st. The family will great friends from 1-2pm followed by sharing of memories starting at 2pm.
