Robert William Murry Robert William Murry, 86, died Feb. 1, 2013, in Hoffman Estates, IL, at St. Alexius Medical Center. He was born in Oak Park, IL on June 6, 1926, an auspicious date as in January 1945 he shipped overseas on the Queen Elizabeth I to serve in the final Rhineland campaign following the D-Day Invasion. A proud member of the 110th Regiment of the 28th Infantry Division, Mr. Murry was an expert rifleman. A replacement GI for the heavy losses the 28th suffered during the Battle of the Bulge, he received the Bronze Star Medal. Upon returning to civilian life, Mr. Murry earned a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Along with his lifelong friend and business partner, Tom Moody, he ran Murry and Moody Civil Engineering, Surveying, and Consulting from 1958 until 1991. Mr. Moody captured him exactly when he said that while Bob Murry had not been a Boy Scout, if he had been a category higher than Eagle Scout would have been necessary to fully recognize his many talents and abilities. A resident of Hampshire, IL, he delighted in his family, friends, dogs, and farm. Robert Murry is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy (nee Mikes); his loving daughters, Elizabeth Murry of Cohasset, MA and Barbara Murry of Hoffman Estates, IL; and his grandson, Robert Lawrence Murry McDonald and granddaughters, Abigael Rose Murry McDonald and Caroline Murry McDonald. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elise Murry (nee Bleile); his father, Harry W. Murry; and his brother, William H. Murry. Visitation and wake on will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL, where his funeral will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7.
