Ronald Eugene Artman passed away unexpectedly Sunday Nov. 3, 2013 while vacationing in Cozumel, Mexico. Born January 17, 1935 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Dorothy (Arnold Urban) and Eugene Artman, he married Patricia Pratt on December 20, 1955; she survives. Also surviving are his children Kathy Lee (Donald Jr.) Ripoli, Lynne Ann (Jeffery) Acks, and Scott Ronald (Diana) Artman. In addition to husband and father, Ron was a wonderful grandfather, friend and teacher to his grandchildren and their families Stephanie (Bill) Orsa and daughter Peyton; Jacqui Ripoli (Chris and Brayden); Kelly Acks; Madison Acks; Reillie Acks; Donald Rocco Ripoli; Carly Acks; Lexi Artman, Taggart Acks and Shelby Artman. He is also survived by his sister Pat Wong, brother in law Phil Wong and nieces Jessica, Alyssa and Kristen. After proudly serving his country with the US Army during the Korean War (1954-57), Ron was a dedicated 39 year employee of United Airlines until his retirement in 1997. Ron was a member of Palatine Masonic Lodge 314, United Airlines Retiree, and IAM # 1487 Retirees. He will be sadly missed by his many friends. Ron was an active working member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Schaumburg, loved traveling with family and friends and enjoyed the pursuit of garage sale "finds". Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 350 Golf Road, Schaumburg (www.AhlgrimFuneral.com). Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday, Nov. 11, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Schaumburg,with viewing at 9 am. Internment and military rites will follow at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ron's memory.
