STEPHEN P. KOVAC

Stephen P. Kovac, age 56, of Phoenix, AZ passed away at home on February 18, 2013 while under the care of Hospice Family Care in Prescott, AZ. His brother and sisters were by his side as he lost his 4½ month battle with Cancer. He was born in Lake Forest, IL and grew up in Libertyville, IL. He went through the Libertyville Public Schools and graduated High School in 1974. He went onto the College of Lake County and graduated with his Associate Degree in Science, Geology. He grew up attending the First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville where he was baptized and confirmed. Steve had a love for music and went to all sorts of concerts (too many to count) all over the Chicago land area, WI, Phoenix and while in Europe from the 1970's through 2011. He moved to Arizona in 1986 and continued his education at Arizona State University where he earned his BA in Geology. His love of prospecting began with his brother as he was a member of the American Institute of Mining and Engineering and the Roadrunner Prospectors' Club. His other interests were camping, snow skiing, photography and travel. Steve worked at EMC Labs, Inc. as a Microscopist/Laboratory Tech from 2006 until he became ill. He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Margery E. Kovac in April 1999 and his father, Paul Kovac in July 2010. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, great uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to many and will be deeply missed. Surviving is his brother Scott Kovac of Prescott, AZ and his sisters Kathryn (Henry) Villa of Anaconda, MT and Kimberly (David) Harris of Portage, MI.
