VIRGINIA RAUPP

Virginia Raupp Virginia Raupp (nee Weidner), 89, the ninth of 10 children and the last descendant of Theodore and Anna Weidner, Buffalo Grove's original settlers, died Dec. 2, 2012. The Weidner's, German farmers, were one of the original families to settle the village, along with the Raupps. Both families have Buffalo Grove roads named for them. Virginia married Frank Mueller in 1946, and raised three children, Thomas Mueller, Beverly (Louis) Najfus and the late Barbara Hoepfner. They lived initially in Long Grove and many years in Buffalo Grove. She worked at Hobson House in Long Grove for 30 years. In 1963, she was "Queen for a Day." After Frank's passing, she moved to Wheeling. Years later she married Roman Raupp, a descendant of the original Raupp settlers. In 2006, Virginia moved to Georgia and lived with her daughter, Beverly. She then moved to Delmar Gardens of Lawrenceville, GA, a senior living community, where she passed away. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road (½ block east of Route 53), Rolling Meadows. On Saturday, Dec. 8, she will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass is held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
