FRANCES BRODBECK

Frances Brodbeck of Bloomingdale Frances Brodbeck, 81, died Saturday, February, 16, 2013 at her home. She was born October 31, 1931 in Melrose Park to Alfred and Louisa Pallotta. On September 9, 1950, she married Clarence "C.J." Brodbeck at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Melrose Park. They had two sons, Robert (Laura) of Naperville and John (Cathy) of Crystal Lake. Fran and C.J. were high school sweethearts. Fran was happy to be a stay at home mom with their two sons until 1967 when she began her career in the accounting department at EIectri-Flex. She was a valued employee at EIectri-Flex for 28 years. She was honored with a retirement party in 1995 and remained close with many of her coworkers until her death. After her retirement, Fran and C.J. bought a summer home in Port Richey, Florida and became annual snowbirds. They enjoyed the warm weather, playing golf, playing cards and visits from family and friends. In 2009 they moved back to Bloomingdale. C.J. died in 2011 and Fran remained active in the community while enjoying time with friends and family. In addition to being an avid card player and golfer, Fran participated in the Partners for Profit Stock Club. Friends said they relied on her keen knowledge of numbers and respected her opinion in the club. Most important to Fran was her love of God and strong conviction of faith. She was an active member of her parish St. Isidore Sisters of Spirit charity work. Friends commented that she would often share inspirational faith stories and her devotion to church was a foundation in her life. Her calm manner and warm smile will be missed by many in addition to the wonderful Christmas cookies she made each year. She loved participating in the annual Christmas cookie exchange with friends and everyone looked forward to her delicious treats. Survivors include her sons, a sister, Julie Eleuteri, 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Michele), Amanda, Josianne, Jordan, and Joseph Brodbeck, a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn, brother-in-law, Charles, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Marie, and brother, Alfred. Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, February 20, from 3-9 p.m. at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (¾ mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Roselle. Friends and family to meet Thursday.
