I'm sorry to hear about Uncle John. I couldn't make the wake and funeral. Glenn, my husband, had a motorcycle accident Sunday morning. He is fine now with some fractures, recuperating at home. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss. (I am the daughter of Joe, John's brother).

I would like to share a poem my pastor shared with me after my daughter's death:

What It Means To Die

Someone I loved died today

And I could not understand what it meant.

Until I went down to the harbor

And I watched the ships sailing.

I stood looking at her

Until she faded on the horizon

And someone at my side said "... she's gone!"

Gone where I wondered.

Gone from my sight, that's all.

The mast on the ship is just as tall.

The figure head of the lady on the bow just as beautiful.

Indeed the whole ship is just as she was

When I saw her in the harbor.

The diminished size

And the total loss of sight of her

Was in ME, not in her.

And just at that moment

When someone at my side said "... she's gone!"

There are other's across the horizon

Who are watching for her coming.

And other voices pick up the glad shout ...

"There! There she is! Here she comes!"

And that is what it means to die.

I will miss you Uncle John! The relationship you and my dad shared, taught me what BROTHER'S are supposed to be! You will forever be in my heart and in my memories. I will miss you!
