George H. Fessler lifelong resident of Naperville George H. Fessler, 70, died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. George graduated from Marmion Military Academy, Aurora, Ill.., Class of 1959. George sold a variety of commodities, including alloys and metals, carbon additives, coal and pig iron. He retired from Hickman, Williams and Company after 20 years of service. He was a member of American Foundry Society and a past president. George had an encyclopedic knowledge of history and especially the Civil War. His knowledge of Naperville history and the history of DuPage County was well known by many. He had a great love of family and friends. He is survived by his children, Joseph, Phillip (fiancee Kelly Riblet) Fessler and Kathy (Terry) McHugh; his daughter-in-law, Tori Fessler; brother-in-law, Louis (Carol) Drendel; sisters-in-law, Katherine (Robert) Coggins and Sheila (Brian) Rafferty; his grandchildren, Paige and Grace Fessler, Mary McHugh, Miranda, Zachary and Cody Fessler, S. Christopher Bily, Caitlynn Riblet and Megan (Willie) Daniels; and his great-grandson, Nathan Daniels. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Yvonne (nee Woodward) and stepmother, Virginia (nee Harvey) Fessler, his wife, Judith C. (nee Drendel) and son, David E. Fessler. Visitation will be held at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home and Crematory, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 2 until 8 p.m. Services will begin at the funeral home Friday at 9 a.m. proceeding to a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery. Memorials preferred to SS. Peter & Paul Catholic School in his memory.
