Al Rosati - This was a great man. If you know and like me and my work ethic, credit Al Rosati. Since I was 9 years old, I've had jobs. But starting with the Rosatis in 1973, I feel that was the prep that led to every success I've had in life. Between Al, Dick, and Ronnie Rosati, I learned what it was to work hard and reap the benefits from that work. On my very first day, after sweeping the floor, I asked Al if that was good enough. He responded, "if you have to ask, it's not good enough." That stuck with me ever since and I learned if you're going to do something, do it right.

Al was an enormous influence on my life in so many ways. I always thought he would have made a great attorney. But he was too smart for that and I'd bet countless customers appreciate his devotion to the business.

Those guys worked. All of them. Including the wives and the kids. There was nothing easy about it. I give credit to them for the way they taught me to work. They were great working role models. I wish everybody had learned to work from guys like them. With every Rosati's Pizza I see, now across the country, I take pride in knowing I was with them in the early days. They wanted me to open a store in Bloomingdale when I was just 17 years old. They had begun the early stages of franchising and offered me a store for no initial cost. They said I would more than make up for it by what I'd generate for them. I took a different permanent path, but I always knew I had a fallback. I always appreciated the confidence they showed in me.

I worked for them for almost 8 years, through high school and college and finally had to quit when I went to law school as I was carrying a full schedule and was working for an attorney downtown. They all deserved whatever success they've had. When you worked for the Rosatis, you weren't just an employee, you were part of the family. Over 40 years later, and I'm still proud to have been part of the Rosati family. Al was one of the biggest influences on my life and I could never thank him enough. I regret I wasn't able to make the service today. All my best thoughts and wishes to his wife, Janet, his sons, Geary and Steve, his daughter, Lisa, and the rest of the family.
