Ann G. Duszak Ann G. Duszak, 70, passed away peacefully Aug. 7, 2012, at her home in Batavia from kidney cancer. She was born Dec. 7, 1941, in Sycamore, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Olive (nee Mefferd) Gustafson. Ann grew up a Spartan, graduating from Sycamore High School in 1960. She worked in banking for more than 17 years, retiring as safe deposit manager in 1998. She also served as vice president of the Fox Valley Safe Deposit Association. Ann gave lovingly of her time and talents to several worthy activities. In earlier years, she was active in Mothers Club and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. Later in life, following appropriate training, she became a direct service and bereavement volunteer for Fox Valley Hospice. She brought great joy to the elderly she called on in this capacity. Serendipitously, one of those visits led her to join the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, the Coffee Connection Card Ministry, and the Staff-Parish Relations and Funeral Luncheon committees. Ann was an avid fan of Chicago Bears football and NASCAR Sprint Cup auto racing. She also enjoyed collecting both Hummel and Willow Tree Angel figurines. But her greatest passion involved the grandchildren's activities - particularly their sports. At volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball and football games, she shared with them and their parents the joy and agony of wins, losses and both good and not-so-good individual performances. Ann is survived by her husband of 12 years, Dennis; children, Lisa (Terry) Moore of Osseo, Wis., Dusty (Sarah) Jackson of Elburn, Ill. and Christopher Duszak of Waukegan, Ill,; grandchildren, Alexa and Nick Moore, and Mitch and Sam Jackson; brother, Leonard "Gus" and his wife, Varina "Toots" Gustafson of Sandwich, Ill.; and her pets, Roscoe and Tippy of Batavia. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her family gratefully thanks both CNS Hospice and Bright Star Life Care for excellent support in allowing Ann's final days to be as she desired. Honoring Ann's wishes, there will be no wake or funeral. Instead you will be welcomed at a memorial service celebrating her life on Friday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 176 Main St., Sugar Grove, Ill., with Revs. Vickie Hadaway and Richard Mayer officiating. A luncheon at the Sugar Grove Community House directly across from the church will immediately follow the memorial service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. LaFox St., South Elgin, IL 60177 or Coffee Connection Card Ministry of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 176 Main St., Sugar Grove, IL 60554, would be appreciated. Arrangements handled by Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St., Geneva, Ill. For information 630-232-8233 or visit malonefh.com.
