Obituary Condolences

Anthony V. Skaronea a resident of Mundelein for 60+ years A Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony V. Skaronea, 89, will be at 9 a.m. Friday, at Santa Maria del Popolo Chapel, 116 N. Lake St., Mundelein, Ill. Interment will take place on Saturday, in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa, Ill. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (two blocks west of Route 45 on Route 176), Mundelein. Anthony was born June 10, 1922, in Ottawa, Ill., and passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012. His life was characterized by his lifelong service and commitment to his community. He was a veteran of World War II and an active member of the Mundelein American Legion for 66 years. He also participated in the VFW, Rotary Club and Jaycees. He was a member of The Historical Society of Fort Hill Country from July 20, 1992 until May of 1995, and was a board member until present time. He was presenter at the grand opening of the Great Lakes Navel Museum Association on Oct. 31, 1997. Anthony was an elected Mundelein Village Trustee from 1965 to 1977 and even found time to coach Little League. He was dedicated to his vocation in the field of education, and after 20 years of employment as the business manager of Mundelein High School he retired. "He faithfully loved and served his family as well and we will deeply miss our dad." He is survived by his daughter, Janet (Jon) McClintock of Laguna Niguel, Calif. and his three sons, Tony (Cindy) Skaronea of Mundelein, Dennis (Jamie) Skaronea of Denver, Colo. and Kurt (Tish) Skaronea of Lake Bluff, Ill. His 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren will also miss him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wannetta.
